Services & Therapeutic Approach
Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Somatic experiencing is a therapy approach that integrates the body into the healing process. Unlike traditional talk therapy, somatic experiencing involves focusing on physical sensations, exploring how the body responds to triggers, and identifying where trauma or stress may be held in the body. Participants may be encouraged to explore movement and engage in specific exercises during the session to address and release stored trauma or stress.
Internal Family Systems is a therapeutic approach that views each person as having a core "Self" and a variety of "parts" with distinct emotional experiences. These "parts" are like members of an internal family, and they can sometimes be in conflict. Some "parts" may hold onto painful emotions or trauma, while other "parts" try to protect from this pain/trauma. The goal of IFS is to heal these wounded "parts" and restore balance. This process can lead to greater inner harmony and a stronger sense of "Self-leadership."
